About Us

Working Towards a Better Tomorrow

Mission: We strive to inspire future nurses to be proficient in providing compassionate care across all language, cultural, and socioeconomic barriers, and to be engaged in community health, education, and service here at home through experience abroad.

Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. Our humanitarian aid trips emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the global and local community, and a desire for actions that speak louder than words.

Missoula College at University of Montana Registered Nursing students will travel to the Dominican Republic in May of 2020, to provide on-site nursing care to a Haitian community. This community centers on an orphanage that serves almost 100 children and many of their family members ranging in age from newborn to over 70 years old. In addition to having little or no access to health care services, this community also lacks a source of clean drinking water.

Who We Are

We are a group of like-minded nursing students who believe that, through our combined compassion and skills, we can make a difference in the world both abroad and in the communities we serve locally.

Humanitarian Aid

With our organization’s mission always in mind, we embark each year on a trip to work in an orphanage in a Haitian Community in the Dominican Republic. Under the guidance and supervision of licensed nursing professionals, we provide well-child assessments and health education. In addition, we assess and treat issues such as asthma, ear infections, skin infections, high blood pressure, and diabetes in both children and adults.

Bringing Our Experience Home

It is our belief that this trip will help nursing students of Missoula College better serve our local communities throughout our professional careers. As nurses, we will need to become more proficient in providing care across language, cultural, and socioeconomic barriers by embracing our communities growing diversity. In addition, this experience will encourage and inspire our new local nurses to become more engaged in community health, education, and service here at home.
